MOQ, Lead Times and Pricing for Botanical Extracts and Natural Oils

What decides the minimum order, how long delivery takes, and how to compare quotes fairly.

MOQ

MOQ differs by product and supplier. Extracts and specialty oils are often made in batches, so ask for the MOQ by pack size, and ask whether a sample or trial lot is possible before bulk.

Lead time

It depends on whether the material is in stock or made to order, the processing it needs, testing, and logistics. Ask for lead time separately for the sample, the first bulk order and repeat orders.

What drives price

  • Marker or standardisation percentage (for example the active compound in an extract)
  • Grade: pharma, nutraceutical, food or cosmetic
  • Extraction method and solvent
  • Organic or other certifications
  • Packing and pack size
  • Season and raw herb availability
  • Order quantity and payment terms
  • Freight and delivery location

How to compare quotes

Compare on the same specification, pack size, payment terms and delivery terms, with COA included. A lower rate on a looser specification is not a lower price.

Frequently asked questions

You can get an indicative range. A firm quote needs the specification, quantity and delivery location.
Usually the marker percentage, grade, packing or terms differ. Matching the specification first makes the comparison fair.
