How to Source Botanical Extracts and Natural Oils from India

A step-by-step approach for manufacturers, formulators and brands.

1. Write the specification first

Define the material, botanical name, form, grade, marker percentage, organic requirement, packing, quantity and the date you need it by. A clear specification is the biggest time saver.

2. Shortlist more than one supplier

Compare at least two or three options on price, MOQ, specification, certifications and lead time.

3. Ask for samples and COA

Request a sample and the COA for the same batch. Test the sample before placing bulk.

4. Verify the supplier

Check registration, licences and certificates, and the supplier's capability. See our verification checklist.

5. Put terms in writing

Record price, specification, quantity, packing, delivery timeline and payment terms in a specification sheet.

6. Plan quality checks and logistics

Decide who inspects, what is tested, and who arranges pickup and transport, before the order starts.

7. Start with a trial lot

A smaller first order lets you confirm consistency before committing to bulk.
